I strive to create forms that feel inherently birthed by Mother Nature.
A fervent expression of awe, my work reflects my love and reverence for the wonders found in each unique niche of the natural world.
From Childhood, play has been my most cherished method of connecting to our environment. I am pulled by the gravitational force nature casts on its surroundings and its innate intrigue. My experiences and curiosities in the outdoors led to my appreciation and continuance of my engagement with Earth. Clay acting as a medium, tethers my palms and allows me to hone my sentiment to its fullest expression.
My inspiration is endless as I stand before the infinite void of it all. I am moved by the macro and micro aspects of our environment, from formations of precious gems and minerals protruding from solid bedrock, the surface of dried cracked earth as it gasps for moisture, to a moment of color hidden within a patch of moss growing beneath a rusty pipe.
My explorations in the studio are translations of my thoughts and experience shaped into the tangible: the visceral seeking embodiment in the depth of porcelain, the chroma of glazes, and the fire within the kiln. My art is a love note to the extraordinary interconnectivity and intelligence of our natural world, and clay is my catalyst, my pen and paper.
My work embodies the harmony between myself and the clay for us both to find space to thrive. Each piece evokes the viewer toward their own essential nature, just as creating them does for me. Guided by my feelings of kinship with the cosmos, I choose to father my love notes and share them with the world.
